David Horne is a Scottish-born composer who captured attention in his late-teens with an impressive series of chamber ensemble works * After composition studies in the USA he returned to live in the UK and currently lectures at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester * Music shows flair for rapid figuration, clarity of expression, and idiomatic instrumentation, within a classical modernist aesthetic * Works commissioned by leading soloists including percussionist Evelyn Glennie, violist Nobuko Imai, and pianist Boris Berezowsky and performed by leading groups including BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic and the Nash Ensemble * Composer in Residence with Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra (2000-04) * Accomplished pianist, made Proms debut in 1990

Works by David Horne include:
Flex (1997) for piano and ensemble
Double Violin Concerto (2003) for two violins and string orchestra
Daedalus in Flight (2013) for orchestra
"The revelation was Horne's supreme command of timbre... he has a definite gift and ear ." — The Times
