Programme Note      Deutsch    Français
Hiérophanie is a complex enactment of the human predicament. The musicians go through the repertoire of motions and interactions Vivier has devised for them, all apparently to no end: they are directed to move around, to improvise, to play and hum music that reminds them of their childhood, to call out the names of gods, to play ‘‘commercial music,’’ and at one point they swap instruments with each other, all this amidst occasional spiritual exhortations from the percussionists.
