Composer's Notes

The piece for large ensemble was inspired by a beautiful and moving poem "Village Idiot" by an artist Graeme Doyle which I heard him recite in 2006.
As the musical ideas grew, I decided to give Electric Guitar the role of the "village idiot" here and there in the piece.
The combination of E-guitar, Harpsichord and Accordion established the main sound of this work.
A major chunk of the piece is built upon an energetic pattern mostly in harpsichord and strings in the metre of 10/8 or 5/4.
The piece found its alternative life in a piece called Fast Blue Village which exists in a series of versions and uses the essence of the material from Village Idiot.
