Composer's Notes

This is a short fanfare for brass and percussion to celebrate Easter. The brass material is extracted from my music-theatre piece Visitatio Sepulchri, and specifically from the section where the three women encounter three angels at the entrance to the empty tomb. It has a ritualistic sectional structure in which each brass episode (gradually expanding and becoming more complex with each occurrence) is answered by a simple response for percussion. The fanfare is dedicated to my school music teacher, Bert Richardson.
