Composer's Notes

Feels So Baaad explores bad as good, bad as naughty, and bad as nasty (in a good way) and is driven by libido rather than cerebellum. It arose as an antidote to the Chuck Mangione pop classic Feels So Good which I arranged for the same ensemble. Feels So Baaad has very little to do with Feels So Good in terms of musical material but "…Baaad" does wrench a two measure bass line from the badist part of "…Good"

Feels So Baaad was written for the violin and marimba duo, Marimolin.

Steven Mackey, 1994
