Boosey & Hawkes at the 2017 BBC Proms

(June 2017)

Proms2017News_RAH.jpg The 2017 BBC Proms sees Boosey & Hawkes works across the season, from classics to the latest new repertoire.

Highlights at the Royal Albert Hall this summer include a season-wide feature on John Adams in his 70th birthday year, UK premieres of new works by Harrison Birtwistle, James MacMillan and Mark-Anthony Turnage, and London premieres of music by Mark Simpson and John Adams.

Festival themes include the centenary of the Russian Revolution featuring music by Rachmaninoff, Stravinsky, Prokofieff and Shostakovich, a survey of Elgar's symphonies including Anthony Payne's moving realisation of the third, and an emphasis on women composers with a new orchestral fanfare for the Last Night commissioned from Lotta Wennäkoski and music for the telecast credits and trailers composed by Anna Clyne. Repertoire classics include music by Andriessen, Bernstein, Copland, Maxwell Davies and Strauss.
