Kats-Chernin: Eliza Aria Gets Remixed

Due to overwhelming demand, a remix of Elena Kats-Chernin’s Eliza Aria entitled “The Journey Continues” is now available on CR2 records. DJ Mark Brown has teamed up with St. Etienne’s Sarah Cracknell to create an imaginative remix of the spell-binding aria heard in British bank Lloyds TSB’s “For the Journey…” ad campaign in the UK. The remix reached the top of the UK dance charts and reached No.11 in the overall pop charts.

Eliza Aria is originally drawn from Kats-Chernin's ballet music for Wild Swans, created with choreographer Meryl Tankard for Australian Ballet in 2003. The ballet was based on the Hans Christian Andersen story, and the fairytale atmosphere is evident in the musical extract which was so successfully employed in the ad campaign.
Speaking about the coming together of classical and electronic music to create the new version of ‘For The Journey’, composer Elena Kats Chernin, said:
"I'm thrilled about the remixes of Eliza Aria. It's great to hear my music given new life and fresh perspectives, as I've always found cross-genre collaborations exciting and inspiring."

They have been so open to turning this into a sublime piece of electronic music.”
Since its launch in February, 2007, the 3-D animated Lloyds TSB TV advert For the Journey has been viewed more than 250,000 times on websites including YouTube and Kontraband and has been part of a high-profile national TV advertising campaign that has been running all year. Lloyds TSB were inundated with enquiries about the music behind the ad and led to Lloyds TSB offering its customers 10,000 free ringtones and 10,000 free downloads of the piece.
Kats-Chernin's Wild Swans Concert Suite, containing a version of Eliza Aria for voice and orchestra is available on an ABC Classics CD, also featuring her Piano Concerto No.2 and Mythic. The CD was reissued last year with a new cover illustration from the Lloyds TSB advert, and the track heard on TV is available as a download from iTunes.
