Title: Publicity and Press Assistant

Reporting to: Head of Publicity and Marketing (in absence, to the Publishing Director)


Job Summary

Working with the Head of Publicity and Marketing in promoting B&H composers and repertoire via electronic and printed channels; actively seeking press coverage and liaising with promoters and journalists; creating advertisements and the performance calendar; maintaining the performance database; managing the photographic library and press archive; assisting with content on the company website

Key Areas

i  Marketing

1) Active press promotion to raise profile of house composers, including press release mailings and provision of scores, recordings and information to journalists and press agents

2) Using DTP (Adobe InDesign) to create promotional tools, including 3 performance calendars a year and composer adverts for programmes and magazines

3) Assisting with content preparation for the company website, maintaining databases and using graphics software (Adobe Photoshop) to create web images

4) Assisting with preparation of printed and web brochures as required


ii  Administration

1) Performances: responsibility for maintenance of database of performances, in conjunction with New York and Berlin offices; distribution of performance reports to composers

2) Composer archive: collection of reviews from daily and periodical press for distribution to composers; databasing of material and sending for archive scanning

3) Photographic library: responding to photo requests from promoters and press; maintenance of image library and rights information; working with partners on commercial exploitation of image library

4) Contact management: maintenance of marketing database of contacts and profiling information

5) Promotional literature: distribution and maintenance of stock levels

6) Dealing with phone and email enquiries as required

7) Accounts: progressing invoices and record-keeping of advertising expenditure

8) Taking minutes of meetings as required

9) Any other duties as required

Further Information:

This full-time position at our London Aldwych office would suit a graduate with relevant work experience and an interest in 20th century and contemporary classical music. Sound office skills and accuracy are essential; press contacts and DTP are desirable.
