Composer's Notes
Next.Stop was commissioned and premiered by Opus 21 at Symphony Space in New York City. The tape part comprises recordings from the New York subway system, which include automated station announcements and voice announcements on the F train to Coney Island. Recorded on my minidisc, I took these sounds and processed, manipulated and layered them to create the fabric of the tape part, which serves as a sonic backdrop to the live ensemble.
