Notas del compositor

In "Reversal", structurally one could say there are three ‘waves’ or ‘arcs’ of increasing intensity. Often an individual instrument is creating musical ‘relief’ against the rest of the orchestra. There are solo moments for the trumpet, first violin, clarinet, french horn. Moments of stillness are juxtaposed with frantic and active moments, sometimes leaving solo instruments isolated from the rest of the orchestra. Pulses create the illusion of continuity but then suddenly break up. It’s certainly a work of shifting perspectives.
The title "Reversal" applies to the change of direction that Luther initiated, but also reflects our time and the recent changes (for the worst…) that Brexit and Trump caused.
