Repertoire Note
Like all of Holloway’s Idylls, this is another shortish pastorale work for small orchestra. It takes its title from a poem by Coleridge about growing up in the countryside. The music flickers and shimmers, as the owlet hoots while the child sleeps, and the silent icicles quietly shine in the light of the moon.
