Dai Fujikura was born in Osaka (Japan) in 1977 and has now spent more than 20 years in the UK where he studied composition with George Benjamin. He has received commissions by the BBC Proms, Lucerne Festival, Salzburger Festspiele and others. His works have been performed by, among others, Pierre Boulez, Peter Eötvös, Jonathan Nott, Gustavo Dudamel and Matthias Pintscher as well as Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, BBC Symphony Orchestra and Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks. His first full-length opera "Solaris" was premiered at Théâtre de Champs-Élysées, Opéra Lille and Opéra de Lausanne in March 2015.
