1961-68 Active as an organist
1968-76 studied sound engineering at the Technische Universität Berlin as well as at the Hochschule der Künste Berlin
1976 Sound engineering diploma
1972-79 Composition studies with Isang Yun
1979 Educational stay in South Korea on invitation of the Korean section of the ISCM
1982 Lecturer in composition and music theory at the Hochschule für Musik Bremen
1984 Initiator and member of the Bremen Performance Group ganZeit
1987/88 Grant from the Cité des Arts Paris, composition studies with Iannis Xenakis (Université I Paris) and Franco Donatoni (IRCAM)
1990 Initiator of the Bremen Center for Electroacoustic Music (ZeM Bremen)
1991-92 project fellowship from the Center for Art and Media Technology in Karlsruhe (ZKM)
since 1996 Professorship in composition at the Hochschule für Künste Bremen
