Blacher Centenary

19 January 2003 is the centenary of the birth of Boris Blacher and concerts and radio programmes are planned in honour of the composer. Blacher was removed from his Dresden teaching post by the Nazis and helped rebuild a musical life in Berlin after the war. His musical style playfully explores alternative routes to the old Austro-German tradition.
