| 4 | Heckscher Museum of Art Huntington Station, NY Exhibition: "Aaron Copland's America" Through January 21, the Heckscher Museum of Art hosts an interdisciplinary celebration of Coplandís cultural legacy, encompassing gallery exhibits, symposia, and a series of eight concerts. Aaron Coplandís America reflects a little-known but critically important passion in the composerís life: his friendships with many of the most remarkable artists of the 20th century. Artworks relating to Coplandís music and milieu have been gathered by guest curator Dr. Gail Levin, Professor of Art History at CUNY; some of the pieces on display are being seen for the first time in the U.S. In conjunction with Aaron Coplandís America, an exhibition catalog of the same title will be issued by Watson-Guptill Publications in October 2000. |
