  • What are the opening hours of the Boosey & Hawkes rental library?
    Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

  • Are perusal/inspection scores available?
    Yes they are. Hundreds of full scores are available to view online for free at www.boosey.com/onlinescores. If the score you are interested in is not included online, please send an email to ukhire@boosey.com being sure to provide us with your delivery address and a contact phone number. Postage costs are payable for the perusal service.


  • HIRING MATERIALS

  • How do I place a hire order?
    Boosey & Hawkes requires all orders to be confirmed in writing at least 10 working days before you require delivery. There is certain essential information that we need before we can process your order, so to make the ordering process as smooth and straight forward as possible please send an email to ukhire@boosey.com providing the following information:
    • Composer & Title (including the version if applicable)
    • Performance details (when, where, who is performing, and who is conducting)
    • Date you require the material (and first rehearsal date if known)
    • Invoice and delivery address(es) including phone number(s)

  • What does hiring music cost?
    Our online hire fee calculator provides hire fee quotes for hundreds of concert works from the Boosey & Hawkes catalogue, and is aimed at UK amateur performing groups to help with their concert planning: www.boosey.com/hfc

    You may also send an email to ukhire@boosey.com to request a hire fee quote. A quote for one month's hire and one performance will be supplied unless we are specifically asked otherwise. Postage and packing will be charged in addition to the hire fee quoted.

  • When should I submit payment?
    Once you have confirmed your order in writing to ukhire@boosey.com, prepaying accounts will receive a pre-payment request by email confirming costs and giving details of how to pay. Materials shall not be despatched until payment has been received by us.

  • Which methods of payment are preferred?
    You can pay using a credit or debit card, sending a cheque to our London address, or you can pay by bank transfer.

  • How long will it take for the hire materials to arrive?
    Once despatched, parcels take between two to three working days to be delivered.
    We ask you to confirm your order in writing at least 10 working days before you require despatch and we will despatch to arrive with you in time for your specified delivery date.

    If you require materials to be sent sooner than 10 working days after confirming your order in writing, a priority fee of £50 + VAT will apply. .

  • By what method will the hire material be sent?
    We send all material by courier (UPS) from our warehouse in Germany.

  • What should I do if I wish to cancel my order?
    Notify us by sending an email to ukhire@boosey.com as soon as you can. If the material has already been dispatched, an admin fee equal to 25% of the hire fee shall be charged, plus postage.

  • To which address should I return hire materials?
    To customers based in the UK we offer a collection service, the cost of which is included in the postage and packing charge. You will receive the following by email a few days before your final performance:
    • UPS shipping label for each of the parcels we originally sent you
    • Check list detailing exactly what we're expecting to be returned (please include a copy inside the package(s))
    • UPS' phone number and simple instructions on how to arrange your collection

    If you're returning materials to us and you're not based in the UK, please return your hire materials to the following address:

    The material must be returned securely packed, and by trackable means.

  • When should I return the hire materials to Boosey & Hawkes?
    Hire materials used for performance should be returned to us within 14 days after your final performance whether complete or incomplete (see below What should I do if some parts are missing from what I return to you?). Perusal scores should be returned to us 6 weeks after the date of receipt.

  • What happens if I'm late returning materials to Boosey & Hawkes?
    If returned later than 14 days after the performance, additional charges will apply.

  • What happens if I don't return hire materials to Boosey & Hawkes?
    It is the hirer's obligation to ensure that the material reaches Boosey & Hawkes safely. The hirer is liable for full replacement costs if any or all material is not returned.

  • What should I do if some parts are missing from what I return to you?
    If any hire material is found to be missing on receipt we will send you a missing parts notification by email, letting you know what's missing and the associated costs. If the missing material is not returned to us within 14 days a non-refundable invoice will be issued for full replacement costs plus an admin fee.
