This leading young British composer and clarinettist was in 2006 the first-ever winner of both the BBC Young Musician of the Year and BBC Proms/Guardian Young Composer of the Year competitions. He has written commissioned works for BBC Symphony Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and BBC Philharmonic. His orchestral fanfare Sparks opened the 2012 Last Night of the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall and his oratorio The Immortal was performed at the Manchester International Festival in 2015.
