David Horne is a young Scottish-born composer who captured attention in his late-teens with an impressive series of chamber ensemble works. After composition studies in the USA he has returned to live in the UK. His music shows a flair for rapid figuration, clarity of expression, and idiomatic instrumentation, within a classical modernist aesthetic. Works have been commissioned from him by leading soloists including percussionist Evelyn Glennie, violist Nobuko Imai, and pianist Boris Berezowsky, and he is currently Composer-in-Residence with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
Works by David Horne include: Concerto for Six Players (1993) for chamber ensemble Flex (1997) for piano and ensemble Ignition (2002) for percussion and orchestra Double Violin Concerto (2003) for two violins and string orchestra
