If you are a classical composer with a track record of professional performances, you may submit materials to us on the following basis.
1. Please send a representative sample of your work - no more than three scores (preferably generated using standard notational software) plus recordings.
2. Send only printed scores or photocopies, clearly labeled. We will not review materials sent by email. Please do not send original manuscripts or any other irreplaceable materials.
3. Provide a letter with your full name and contact details, including email address, and concise background information:
(a) Biography and CV, including key composition teachers
(b) Past performances of your works
(c) Reviews
(d) List of works and future commissions/projects
(e) One or two recommendations from teachers or colleagues
4. We will acknowledge receipt of your submission by post or email and aim to review your material within six months.
5. We will notify you of the outcome of your submission but please note that we are unable to offer a critique of your work.
6. If you wish to have your work returned to you, please include a stamped, self-addressed envelope of an appropriate size and bearing correct postage. Otherwise, it is our policy to destroy unsolicited material after review. In any case, we do not accept responsibility for damaged or lost materials.
Our choral, band and school orchestra publishing program is largely developed by our series advisers, who review and choose the titles for inclusion. If you wish to submit choral music (unaccompanied or accompanied by up to 6 instruments) or instrumental music for large educational ensembles (e.g. school band or orchestra), please send a copy of the score and a recording to us on the same basis as above. Please note that we are not currently accepting chamber music for our educational publishing programs.
Please send your submission to your nearest Boosey & Hawkes office: if you are based in Germany, Austria or Switzerland, send to our Berlin office, if you are based in the Americas please send to our New York office, and all other composers should submit to our London office:
