Aalborg Symphony Orchestra
Matthias Aeschbacher

Leif Kayser (1919-2001) was an indisputably gifted composer and quickly established himself as one of the upcoming young men on the Danish musical scene, until he abandoned it for a period to dedicate himself to the priesthood.

Today the four symphonies in particular rank as some of Kayser’s finest contributions. Vol. 2 offers the Late Romantic work of his youth, Symphony No. 1 from 1937-38, as well as the fourth and last symphony from 1945-63 with its correspondingly far more inward, almost defiant tonal idiom.

A fine documentation and testimony of a lesser known figure of Danish twentieth century music in the hands of Aalborg Symphony Orchestra and Matthias Aeschbacher.
