Lord Berners' songs come from 2 periods. First, the years just after the First World War, when his music was in the vanguard of new developments, and secondly, his later years, when he was concerned with the applied music of ballet and film. The last 2 songs in this collection were from manucsript and the others were presented in a new edition in 1980 following detailed comparison of all sources.
