The purpose of this book is to provide resource materials for the study of improvisation, either individually or in a class situation. The tunes included here are based on typical kinds of chord progressions found in many jazz standards or on special types of progressions that have been found by the authors to be valuable for study. The melodies are designed as typical examples of melodic motion through various kinds of harmonies.
