New Miniature Scores from Eulenburg
The Edition Eulenburg comprises famous works in high-quality editions, perfect for students, performers and listeners.

The Edition Eulenburg comprises famous works of chamber music, orchestra, choir, as well as opera from Albinoni to Wolf-Ferrari. The series offers authoritative editions of great value to students, performers and listeners.

From humble beginnings when Ernst Eulenburg founded his publishing firm in 1874, the series expanded in the 1890s, when Eulenburg acquired the chamber music catalogue of Albert Payne and the orchestral catalogue of Donajawski. Their collected lists, including editions of Bach's St Matthew Passion, Beethoven's Missa Solemnis and Brahms's Requiem, gave Eulenburg a solid foundation. The familiar yellow covers were an original feature of Payne's editions.

The catalogue soon included all of Brahms's instrumental works, most of Dvorak's, pieces by Grieg and Smetana, and even complete Wagner operas. Eulenburg editions consolidated a reputation for their value to students and for new musicological standards. Pre-classical music especially became an area of development; works by Byrd, Gabrieli, Monteverdi, Purcell and Schütz were added to the nucleus of Bach, Handel and Vivaldi.

Eulenburg editions match contemporary expectations of musical scholarship by presenting an Urtext, with a general Preface (in English and German) and detailed Textual Notes. These standards are applied both to new and revised scores. The current catalogue covers an essential range of repertory from the Baroque to Romantic periods, though these by no means constitute fixed boundaries.

Recent additions include works by Elgar, Gershwin, Hindemith, Honneger, Orff, Prokofiev, Rodrigo, Schoenberg, Stravinsky and Tippett. The series is being constantly updated and revised.
