Refreshing the repertoire: an Innovative series of illustrated repertoire books with CDs

A three-book series offering beginner violinists a refreshing and inspirational choice of pieces to help build confidence and musical skills.

The repertoire is imaginatively tailored to develop specific techniques through an exciting range of musical styles – classical, traditional, pop, rock, jazz, world music – as well as original compositions written for the series. Pieces from Violin Star 2 and 3 have been selected for the new ABRSM Violin syllabus at Grade 1 and 2 level.

The Student’s books contain the solo violin parts, along with colourful illustrations, activities and a playalong CD. The Accompaniment books include separate piano and violin accompaniments for every piece.

Edward Huws Jones is a composer, arranger and music educationalist. He studied at the University of York and the Royal Academy of Music, and went on to develop extensive experience as a string teacher. He has travelled widely to research fiddle-laying styles, and his original compositions are firmly established in educational repertoire.
