Explore MacMillan's choral music online and on CD sampler
(December 2002)
James MacMillan is one of the most successful composers of his generation at writing for choral forces, and his much-perfomed output embraces sacred and secular, ancient and modern, meditative simplicity and rich ornamentation.
You can now explore his music online. You can read repertoire notes provided by Paul Spicer, which examine 27 works from a practical perspective, describing the choral forces required, the level of difficulty, and the vocal character of each piece. You can also listen to sound clips drawn from MacMillan's extensive choral discography, including the acclaimed Hyperion disc by the Choir of Westminster Cathedral including his Mass, and the recently released Chandos disc by the BBC Singers with the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis.
A new CD sampler is also available featuring 19 tracks and over 50 minutes of music. If you are a choral director or programmer, email us for your free copy. Email: UK & Rest of World Germany/Austria North America
