The dramatic success of the original D’Aon Ghuth collection has led to the title being extended into a great new series, with two new titles just released.

Pronounced “Dane Guh”, the title translates as “With One Voice”.  The series supports the teaching of the Irish language through song, and represents a significant contribution to the Irish language repertoire for young singers.

Designed to stimulate children both musically and linguistically, D’Aon Ghuth is based on everyday experiences and the world of the imagination, the songs are appropriate to the language, musical and vocal ability of primary school children throughout Ireland. The series provides the only Irish-language songbooks designed for the new Irish National Curriculum for Music from 2005.

Each volume comes complete with a CD containing both brilliantly-scored backing tracks and high-quality sample performances featuring the Young Wexford Singers under the direction of Eanna Mc Kenna.

Composer Sue Furlong was born in Waterford, and has lived and worked in Wexford since 1987. The Musical Performance Director of Wexford Festival Singers, her compositions include The Dancing Master, commissioned by County Wexford Children’s Choir to commemorate the bicentennial 1798 celebrations, and the RTÉ award-winning Mass of Thanksgiving. Sue has worked with children for many years as a teacher of instrumental and vocal music.

“The composer of D’Aon Ghuth was set an ambitious brief for this commission. She has embraced this challenge with enthusiasm and dedication and in the process has significantly contributed to Irish language repertoire for young singers.”
—Councillor Larry O’Brien, Chairman, Wexford County Council
