"As a teacher I was looking forward to using this book with some pupils, particularly because it seemed like a great resource in preparation for the ABRSM grade 1 exam. I have found the flute book in the same series to be excellent, and was confident in recommending the clarinet book. Most of the pieces, studies and aural awareness tests are great. However, unfortunately, this book includes material unsuitable for a player working towards grade 1. The second piece in the book includes the note C using the register key, which is beyond a grade 1 pupil's ability. The 'scale spot' sections featuring F major and G major are NOT 'grade appropriate' as described on the back cover, because they are an octave higher than the scale range required for grade 1."
