"This book was a charming discovery. I was looking through the examination pieces for Grade 5 and one piece that struck my fancy was the Gymnopedie by Satie, a piece I have been keen to learn. So I bought the book and am charmed by the selection of pieces in it. There is a mix of classical, romantic and twentieth century pieces- in short, something for everyone.

What can I say about this book? The selection of the pieces, many of which are well loved pieces such as Mendelsohn's Song Without Words. The selection of the pieces is an interesting one- different styles of playing. The helpful notes are especially suitable for an adult learner like me. Someone has taken the trouble to work out the fingering and it is very helpful.

I would recommend this book for anyone who wishes to play alternate pieces at the same level and yet be challenged by pieces at a slightly more advanced level. So as a 5th grade learner, I find the 6th grade pieces a perfect opportunity to motivate me to learn some more. Some day when I have mastered most of these pieces, I am coming back for Encore Book 3."
