Abhängig von der Anordnung der Episoden verändert sich die Dramaturgie der Komposition im Ganzen und es variieren die emotionalen und inhaltlichen Schwerpunkte der Interpretation.
Zusätzlich ist in Teil D die Freiheit in der Wahl der Dynamik – piano oder mezzoforte – und des Charakters – mystisch-entrückt oder bravourös-pathetisch – gegeben. Das Wichtigste für den Interpreten ist, eine für ihn persönlich stimmige Reihenfolge der Abschnitte zu finden."

“The composition Dastan for violin solo consists of the four individual episodes A, B, C and D. The order of the episodes during the performance is at the discretion of the competition participant. Independently of the order of the episodes, the dramaturgy of the composition changes as a whole, and the points of emphasis of the interpretation - with regard to content and emotion - vary.
Moreover, there is freedom in the choice of dynamics (piano or mezzoforte) and of character (mystical-enraptured or bravura-emotional) in part D. The most important thing for the performer is to find an order of the sections that is personal and right for him/her.”
