Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (1714-1788) was the second eldest son of the great Johann Sebastian. He was taught by his father, served as harpsichordist to Frederick the Great in Berlin for almost 30 years, and spent the last 20 years of his life as Director of Music to the five principal churches in Hamburg. This album contains five sonatas - Sonata in Cmin Wq60, Sonata in Ab Wq49/2, Sonata in Bmin Wq55/3, Sonata in F Wq55/5, Sonata in Fmin Wq57/6.
