Music history is not the past itself but a story based on certain sources. In her thesis, Anna Magdalena Bredenbach takes a look at the narrative structures of musico-historical texts by asking how the history of music was narrated in common texts around 1900. Based on a specially developed narratological 'tool kit', she examines time cuts, selection criteria, acting persons and perspectives, as well as master and counter narratives of the centuries around 1900.
