Benjamin Britten: Death in Venice Op.88 (Full Score)

Britten created this opera for his life-long companion, the tenor Peter Pears, who played the character of von Aschenbach. It is commonly thought that this opera, and particularly the character of von Aschenbach who recognizes and confronts his hitherto latent homosexuality in terms of anguish and eventual decay, is a reference to Britten's own experience of that issue in his life.
