DIETRICH BUXTEHUDE
Organ Works Vol. 2
Bine Bryndorf, organ

Dietrich Buxtehude, composer

About
On the second release of Dacapo's new Buxtehude series it is again the historic instrument in the St. Mary's Church, Elsinore, that forms the point of departure. For it was on this organ that the Danish-born Dietrich Buxtehude expressed himself as the church organist in 1660-68. It was furthermore here that the organist and professor Bine Bryndorf practiced as a child, and first made the acquaintance of Buxtehude’s music.

It is the first time ever that an organist goes hands-on with Buxtehude and records his works on the very instruments the works were composed on. Dacapo Records’ new Buxtehude series will comprise a total of six CDs. After the first two CDs from the St. Mary's Church in Elsinore there will be recordings in the St. Mary's Church in Helsingborg and the Marienkirche in Lübeck, where the composer was employed after the years in Elsinore.

Reviews
Bine Bryndorf's ability to make full use of the space into which this splendid instrument speaks is pure delight ... Highly recommended
(BBC Classical reviews, UK)

Bine Bryndorf eschews hollow mannerisms and empty rhetoric and concentrates on the subtle but unbelievably musical delivery of a line, helped by her meticulous articulation and superb control of touch. Buy!
(Early Music Review, UK)

Bine Bryndorf consolidates the view that this will be the touchstone recording for the future. Her combination of lightness and energy is unusal and highly appropriate; her sense of sound is refined, and the quite irresistible feature is the joy and optimism that permeates her interpretations.
(Politiken, Denmark)

It is always dangerous to suggest a definitive recording for such an oft-recorded composer as Buxtehude, but Bine Bryndorf's disc must come near the top of the list.
(Organists' Review, UK)

Sound quality is exceptional ... the organ was often played by Buxtehude himself and is a gorgeous sounding instrument of abundant power ... The playing is outstanding. I highly recommend this second volume from Bine Bryndorf. I look forward til Volume 3 and hope that it is soon forthcoming.
(Classical Music on the Web, UK)

There is a definite value in hearing this music on the instrument associated with Buxtehude
(International Record Review)

[Dieses] Orgel ist das ideale Vehikel für eine Interpretation, bei der sich eine intelligente Registrierung mit flexiblem und elegantem Spiel glücklich verbindet
