Celebration was commissioned in 2004 for the Maryland Classic Youth Philharmonic, to celebrate the opening of the Music and Arts Education Center at Strathmore, in Rockville, MD. A bright and cheery, vividly energetic piece suitable for youth orchestra, it was premiered by the Maryland Classic Youth Philharmonic at the Center on March 12, 2005, conducted by MCYP’s artistic director Olivia Gutoff.
