This version is reasonably faithful to Verdi's original orchestration and is not simplified other than providing modern transposing parts (horns in F, trumpets in Bb etc.). The piccolo part is a small one and may be dispensed with. The chorus can be omitted as all their notes are doubled in the orchestra. If a chorus is used it can be mixed, all male or all female.
