DD16038 - The present edition of the 2nd Arabesque is an excerpt from the Complete Works of Claude Debussy (Series I, volume 1). Debussy's Deux Arabesques complement his French classicism: beside their Bergamasque flavour, they follow their title accurately by exploring a constant thread in Debussy's music: his tendency to overlay slow-moving inner melodies with surface tracery and melodic ornamentation, in the manner of the Moorish art that gives us the term "arabesque".
