The concept for this suite originated when the arranger, David Elliott and series advisor, Dr. Doreen Rao, visited an art museum. They viewed a statue of two children facing each other, holding hands. The idea of children singing and “swinging” together got connected with jazz, and the result is this set of songs that the legendary Ella Fitzgerald sang throughout her career. For children's choir and piano (or jazz ensemble).
