The opening theme portrays the beauty and grandeur of the Pacific Northwest, with its majestic mountains, verdant forests, sparkling lakes and rivers that flow to the sea. To depict the lives and times of the courageous pioneers and rugged lumberjacks who helped cut a swathe into this territory by way of the Oregon Trail and other routes, three regional popular tunes of the period have been used: To the West, The Timbertown Logger, and Once More A-Lumb'ring Go.
