The Industrial Revolution is the background to this ballad cantata about Robert Owen and his ‘Great Endeavour’. Tracing the historical transformation of Britain from an agrarian to an industrial society, Michael Hurd highlights the enlightened experiment in welfare education of the owner of the great cotton mill at New Lanark.
