An arrangement of an Irish folk melody with text from Thomas Moore's Irish Melodies, vol. 6 (1815). The image of a harp wakened from long silence is used as a metaphor for emerging patriotic sentiments in Ireland. This choral arrangement begins with unison treble voices, gradually splitting into two and finally three parts (SSA). The melody is the traditional tune "Kitty Tyrrel," published in numerous sources in the early 1800's and one of several melodies adapted for this text over the years. For children's choir or women's choir, with piano (or harp) accompaniment.
