Dmitri Kabalevsky's "Album Pieces" for violin and piano (SIK 2431) is a compilation of 20 easy pieces, arranged for this instrumentation, combined from his "24 Little Pieces Op. 39", the "30 Children's Pieces Op. 27" and other pieces. All the pieces were written in the period from 1937 to 1944.
Because of their rhythmic refinement and harmonic frictions, Kabalevsky's smaller pieces for children and youths are frequently used in piano pedagogy, have a special attraction and have acquired central importance.
