Composer’s note:
"Chums, of course, means friends. The piece was commissioned by Camarilla Ensemble, in which my daughter-in-law played oboe. She’s a close friend, the players are friends, and they are my friends. The word ‘chums’ also has an ‘old English’ air to it – from a bygone era – which sits with the humorous nature of the piece. All friends together." --Karl Jenkins, March 2010
