Jirí Laburda, born in Sobeslav in 1931, is a Czech composer whose style is close to neo-classicism but who also uses aleatorism and dodecaphony in his extensive oeuvre. For many years he has devoted himself to the accordion, broadened the repertoire for this instrument and composed works for accordion solo or with accompaniment. He was awarded for his 'Prelude' from 1975. For a young accordionist Labuda wrote his Fiori teneri, lively in character, with a suggestion of a waltz – a freely tonal work that is joyful to play.
