During the inter-war years, actor-manager, dramatist, singer and composer Ivor Novello was one of the most popular artists on the London stage. In 1910, this song for voice and piano achieved considerable success, though Novello's work has largely been forgotten, and his reputation obscured by that of his friend and rival Noel Coward.
