Before I present my review proper I had better point out that the edition I have here at home clearly states that it was written by J. Loeillet of London, not by Mynheer Loeillet de Gant.
I have a suspicion this confusion as to who wrote what will be ongoing.
The transposition from what is stated as the original key of E minor up to g- minor appears to work well.
Trying to offer a balanced review was not easy as the realised continuo in g-minor is a delight to rehearse. The soloists last weekend were all unanimous in their praise for this work so should anyone wish to acquire a copy and rehearse it from cover to cover, I can fully recommend it with full enthusiasm.
