MacMillan's dramatic setting of Luke 2: 9-14 (English), And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, for three mixed voice choirs, a cappella. Commissioned by Ex Cathedra for its 40th anniversary and composed in 2009. First performed on 19 December that year at St Paul's Church, Birmingham, UK, by Ex Cathedra, conducted by Jeffrey Skidmore. Spacial separation of the groups in a large space will maximise the effect. A magnificent seasonal showpiece for advanced standard choirs.
