The composer, who emigrated from Germany in 1939 and has been living in Berlin since 2006, wrote this seven-minute piano piece in 2000. One of her major works is 'Constellations' (1991) for large orchestra, commissioned by the San Francisco Symphony and premiered under the direction of Herbert Blomstedt. Using different instrumentations, she succeeds in creating varying tonal colours and more and more new atmospheres while the structure of her compositions always remains compact, yet delicate. This is the case in one of her latest works '2000 Notes' for piano which is brilliant in its transparency.

In 2013 Ursula Mamlock celebrates her 90th birthday.
