The Suite is based on the creation story. Adam is represented by a. forthright French Overture, and Eve by a flighly Scherzo. After a lazy and yawning Siesta the Serpent worms his way sinisterly into the proceedings with a slithering fugue, and the final jazzy movement, A Little Temptation, sets the scene for seduction. The work exists in three versions, of which that for recorder and keyboard is likely to be the most frequently performed.
