In the book, part one starts with one-bar breaks in 4/4 time while part five ends with four-bar breaks in 7/4 time. In between, the exercises get increasingly harder by virtue of the breaks getting progressively longer. The exercises provide a challenge to all four limbs. They were written less as musical examples and more as challenging workouts. All of the exercises are written to correspond to their intended click track on the CD included.
