Sonata 'June -December' for violin and piano was composed in the course of the years 2003-2005 in Katowice and first performed on April 27th 2005 at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice. The main impulse to write the Sonata was the need to meet the challenge of the classical form. The second impulse, equally important, was the urge to destroy this form and go beyond it. These two drives, the first to be consistent, to create, develop and sum up, and the other to be unpredictable, to create, contrast and destroy, meet and compete with each other as themes in a classical sonata. The title can be understood in two ways. On the one hand it simply reflects the time when the two movements were finished, but on the other hand it also indicates the conflict present in the piece.
